Brain Turning to Mush

I had not read a book at all last summer.  It had been so long since I'd read a book that I was fearful that my brain was turning to mush.  I'm one of those people who has to have a book around just in case I find a moment to read.  I had collected a few, so after Christmas it was finally time to start reading.

I read Queen Hereafter by Susan Fraser King.  It is historical fiction about Margaret who was queen of Scotland about 950 years ago.  Quite good, but made me glad I was not a woman in that era.

Then, I read Island Beneath the Sea by Isabel Allende.  She is one of my favorite authors.  The setting was Haiti when it was a French Colony in the 1770's, also historical fiction.

Jack Kennedy, Elusive Hero by Chris Matthews, non-fiction, of course.  This gave some real insight into President Kennedy's personality, and a "behind-the-scenes" look at all he had to deal with and how he handled things.  I found it very interesting.

The most recent book I finished is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.  She also authored Seabiscuit.  Unbroken is non-fiction about Louis Zamperini who was a track star, then a bombardier on bomber that went down in the Pacific Ocean in World War II.  An excellent book!

So, if you, too, are looking for some good reading, I would recommend these books.  My brain feels better now.

I too have many, many books that have stacked up...use to read 4 books a week and then suddenly stopped. need to get back in to that as well.

I enjoyed reading a few of your blogs.....and will look forward to reading more.

    Take care.

    1. Good to hear from you, Sherry. Do you have a blog too? I don't think I have ever read 4 books in a week, but I do enjoy reading. Only problem is, it interferes with my crocheting. I am working on a few hats and scarves now for next winter.
