A New Raised Bed!

Today we started building a new raised bed for additional gardening.  Our first 2 raised beds we use exclusively for growing lettuce and they both have special, non-soil growing medium which we bought from Len Pence, http://www.gardeningrevolution.com/.

The one we started today will have regular garden soil plus some peat moss to lighten it up.  We had talked about building a cold frame to get seeds started early in the spring.  Then, we decided instead, we would just build another raised bed and treat it like a cold frame in the spring.  After the early starts are out, we can plant other vegetables in it so we can use it all summer.
