ARTISAN BREAD
The Great Northwest Winefest will be held again this year in Mound City from noon to 8:00 p.m. I will be baking artisan bread, baguettes, and a multi-grain bread which we call Cahokia Mound Bread, for this event. They all go well with wine. The artisan bread is a coarse bread with a chewy crust. I bake it in a 450 degree oven on a baking stone. I put a pan of water in the oven to create steam as the bread bakes. The bread is good eaten with wine, cheese, fruit, salads, soups, etc., or just by itself with a little olive oil or butter.
In addition to our fruit spreads (apple butter, peach jam, blueberry jam, and blackberry jelly), we'll have wine jelly (chardonnay, rose, and merlot) and jalapeno pepper jelly. I'm also putting together a couple of gift baskets of jams and jellies in case someone needs a birthday gift or hostess gift in the near future.

For some reason I didn't see a way to leave a comment under the green bean post? Making rounds today from Bridge and Beyond to say hi. Do you plan to can your beans?
ReplyDeleteSandy, I forgot to hit the button to "allow comments" on the green bean post. For now, we are selling all the green beans. If it gets to a point that we have more than we can sell, then I can them.
